The Duffs were born to Susan Duff & Robert Erhard Duff. She has a sister named Haylie Duff, is their youngest cousin. Hilary wanted her to emulate Haylie, and she began travelling with Haylie Duff in her Cecchetti Ballet. Though the star enjoyed ballet she realized her true love was behind the camera and the young star quickly went on to start acting professionally.
