Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco (born Angela Maria Ani DiFranco) is a American and Canadian artist and singer. She has released over 20 albums. Her songs are classified by the label as folk and alternative rock. They also incorporate elements of hip-hop music, jazz, and punk. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement being one of the pioneers to establish her own label 1990. DiFranco was born on September 23, 1970 in New York City, York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who came across Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian origin and her mother came born in Montreal. Ani DiFranco composed and performed 32 Flavors. The track was released on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which came out in 1995. The track was included in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it became known that she was hosting the three-day event on a Louisiana former plantation for slaves. The event was cancelled however, many (including the newspaper) didn't consider it a gesture of regret. DiFranco apologized for her mistake a couple of days later.
